GiftScene
How GiftScene works

The rules we run on

What we do, what we never do, and what every label on the site means.

We don't sell anything

GiftScene helps you decide what to give and sends you to the seller: a brand's own site, a maker's Instagram, or a shop like Amazon. We never take your payment, hold stock or ship anything. Your order, and any return, is between you and the seller.

How businesses get listed, and what the labels mean

Businesses reach GiftScene in two ways: we list them ourselves because they're worth recommending, or they list themselves and a person reviews them before they go live. Nobody pays to be listed or to rank.

No label
We added this business from its own public information. It hasn't claimed the page and isn't a partner. Any business can claim its page for free.
Claimed
The business manages this page itself, after we checked the claim.
Business verified
GiftScene confirmed the business exists and is run by the people who claimed the page, through its official website or GST registration and a call. It does not mean we vouch for its quality, products or delivery.
The business says:
Descriptions like women-led, eco-conscious or handmade are the business's own words until we have evidence; then they show without the prefix.

Price tiers (Budget-friendly, Premium, Luxury) describe where a brand sits for one kind of gift, not across everything it sells. A business that ran into trouble or asked to be removed is taken off the site.

Recommendations

On every business page we ask one question: “Would you recommend this business to someone looking for a gift?” Only yes-answers are counted in public. No-answers stay private and prompt us to look at the business more closely; they never appear as a mark against it.

You don't need an account, so there's no real identity behind an answer. We allow one answer per browser, but a second device or cleared storage gets round that, so treat counts as signals, not proof. We watch for bursts from one network and can hold or reset a count. We never call a count “verified”.

Reviews

Reviews follow the principles of India's standard for online consumer reviews (IS 19000:2022):

  • Good and bad reviews are published alike, as long as they meet these rules.
  • We never edit a review. We publish it in full or not at all, with its date.
  • We don't publish reviews that were paid for or written by the business, or ones that are abusive, off-topic, or share someone's personal details.
  • A business can ask us to look again at a review it believes breaks these rules; we check and reply either way.

Prices and delivery

Prices on a product are as shown on the seller's own site when we last checked, and can change. Always confirm on the seller's site. Delivery labels (Same day, 1 to 2 days, Made to order and so on) are the usual timing, not a promise; many sellers publish nothing we can check, so we say when delivery isn't verified.

Photos

Product photos belong to the brand or maker that took them. We show them with the seller's name and a link back to them, and remove any photo within a day if its owner asks. Other photos are free-licence images from Wikimedia Commons, credited on each page and on our photo credits page.

Commissions

Right now, no link on GiftScene earns us money. If that changes, any link that does will say so right next to it. A commission will never change the order in which we recommend anything: rankings come from fit and from what people recommend. Any paid placement will be labelled “Featured”.

Complaints, corrections and takedowns

Write to us about anything: a mistake on a page, a complaint about a listing or review, or a request to remove your photo, product or business. We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days. Removal requests are handled within a day.
